On December 11, 2015, EBRC Director and Research Professor George W. Hammond, Ph.D., and Chase Chief Economist Anthony Chan, Ph.D., presented the economic forecast for Arizona and the nation to an audience of over 500. The event was held at the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

U.S. and global economic growth continues at a modest pace but financial markets have experienced increased turbulence. Arizona’s recovery is grinding along, but it is uneven across regions and industries. In particular, construction activity continues to be the missing link in the expansion. The Tucson economy is also expanding, but gains have fallen short of the state and national pace, held back by fiscal drag and slow population gains.

Is 2016 the year that gains finally accelerate? Lower gas prices contributed to growth this year, but where are prices headed? The U.S. dollar has appreciated strongly. What does that mean for foreign trade and tourism? The Federal Reserve is expected to raise rates soon, but what impact will that have on local housing markets? Find out at this annual must-attend event.
